This past weekend Bonnie's dress was a hit at her daughter's wedding.

Cindy's Dress is Complete

Cindy's purple taffeta gown and shawl collar bolero are now completed and on their way to the wedding destination.  One thing is for sure, some of the eyes will be on the mother of the groom at this wedding.

Make Way for this Mother of the Groom

Wedding season is in full session, and while we have been working on both wedding dresses and mother of the bride dresses, we can’t forget the mother of the groom! Cindy Berre is going to look beautiful in royal purple taffeta for her son’s wedding. She had trouble finding the perfect dress, but after some input of her own, she is very pleased with how her dress is turning out. Keep reading for updates on all of the projects going on in the studio!

Cheryl the Fashionista

Cheryl is going to turn heads in this cocktail dress for Zoofari. She has wanted to take risks with her style, and this dress, with an asymmetrical neckline, will definitely be a statement maker. Cheryl has known from the beginning of the process what she wants. She knows the fashion industry well, and has had a lot of input in the design, so the outcome will be just what she imagined!

Sewing for Zoofari

A few of the clients are getting ready for Zoofari, and their dresses will be sure to stand out among the crowd! Alleen picked out a gorgeous midnight blue taffeta for her dress. In past years, long evening dresses have been worn at Zoofari, but Alleen decided to make a true statement with this one-of-a-kind cocktail dress!

Here Comes the Bride!

The beginnings of Laura's bridal gown are underway. Check out her inspiration board- we are going for sophistication, yet modern with beautiful fabrics and subtle details. We will keep you updated on the progress of her gown, but you'll have to wait for the big reveal before you see the final outcome which involves a surprising twist to bridal fashion!

Updates in the Studio: Bonnie's Dress

We've been keeping very busy and working hard in the studio with both former and new clients! Bonnie’s dress is in its final fitting stage and almost ready for final construction. We are excited to see the outcome, and we know it's going to be a beautiful dress that will make a statement at the wedding! Keep reading for more behind the scenes looks into the studio!

Mary Lee’s Final Fitting

Mary Lee Edwards has come in for final fitting today and it was a great success. Her blouse is now in the finishing stage and should be completed within the next week. The blouse is made of silk crinkle chiffon, which is an elegant lightweight fabric with a flat-crepe texture. The color is absolutely beautiful on her and we are very excited to finish it for her! Check back next week for pictures of the end result.

And Bonnie’s Dress Begins

New to our studio this week is Bonnie who has ordered an evening gown for her daughter’s wedding. Yesterday we put together a mood board for her so she could get a feel for what we are thinking for her design. 

We showed her sketches and she gave us her input on how she wants the dress to look. 

For a general idea of fit and shape for the dress we made a sloper. From the sloper we will make a pattern for her dress.

Fabric Inspirations

Today we are busy at work on the 2012 Spring collection fabric and trim boards- one of the many pre production aspects of putting together a collection! We took images from our overall collection mood board for inspiration. Fabrics like silk, organza, and chiffon look beautiful in creams and ivories.  The classic jeweled and beaded trims give a nice sparkle and really make these boards stand out! Welcome to the Studio!

Welcome to the studio! Through the weeks we will be giving you a look into what it takes to make a couture garment. Today we patterned and fitted a muslin mock up of Mary Lee Edwards’ couture blouse. We are thrilled to be working with Mary Lee! Here are sketches and photos of her muslin blouse and the adorable gold buttons we found!
